Joe VonDerHaar has over 25 years experience split between the utility and manufacturing industries. On the utility side he has held positions in System Operations, Distribution and Generation. On the manufacturing front he was Plant Manager of Force Control Industries, a Power Transmission OEM. While in manufacturing he lived through the cultural and process changes required to become ISO9001:2000 certified. Joe is currently the Plant Manager at the Spurlock Power Station, a 4-unit, coal fired, 1356MW facility in Maysville Kentucky. He holds an electrical engineering degree from the University of Dayton. Joe and his wife Carla are proud parents of three sons.

Dennis has worked in the Electric Utility, Power Generation field for over 40 years. His background includes performance and plant engineering, project management, and senior management. A large portion of his career was dedicated to power plant process controls where he designed and implemented DCS retrofits throughout the SPS fleet. Currently, Dennis is the Plant Director of the Harrington/Nichols complex that consists of 3 coal fired units and 3 gas fired units. He has served as a Director of Operations with both GDF Suez and NAES over simple cycle, combined cycle, and coal plants. Currently he is a Plant Manager with ODEC at their new 1000 MW Combined Cycle Wildcat Point Generation Facility.

William H. Mock III is plant manager for coastal generation at Georgia Power. In this role, he is responsible for four generating facilities along the Georgia coast and Warner Robins. Together, these plants encompass 21 generating units of various size, technology, and fuel diversity representing over 2,600 megawatts of capacity. Mock was named to his current position in March 2014. Prior, he served as assistant to the senior vice president of fossil & hydro generation for Georgia Power and senior production officer for Southern Company Generation. Mock began his career with Southern Company in 1990 as a junior engineer at Southern Nuclear's Plant Hatch. In 2005, he was named plant manager of the newly constructed Georgia Power McIntosh Combined Cycle Plant. In addition, Mock has served as maintenance manager at Georgia Power's Plant Bowen (Cartersville) and plant manager at Plant Yates (Newnan). A native of Savannah, Mock earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Mr. Fassett is Co-owner and founder of IEM Energy Consultants LLC has more than 36 years of broad based experience in the power and related industries. He founded IEM in 1998 as a boutique consulting practice which provides consulting services in all aspects of power plant operations, maintenance, and management to clients worldwide. Mr. Fassett has provided services in outage planning, management and oversite, long range O&M budgeting, reliability assessments, and plant staffing analysis. In addition, he has also been involved in the negotiations of long-term service agreements representing over 30 GW of gas and steam turbine generating capacity worldwide and has testified as an expert witness regarding proper operations and maintenance practices and procedures. Under his guidance, IEM has experienced significant growth, and now employs almost 15 consultants.
Prior to forming IEM, Mr. Fassett held roles of increasing responsibility with various utilities, both regulated and IPP's, as well as petrochemical process facilities. These roles included Plant Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Start Up Manager, Maintenance Manager and Plant Superintendent. His experience includes coal, simple and combined cycle CT's and coal gasification. Mr. Fassett sits on the Board of Directors of the Plant Managers Institute, the Advisory Board of the Electric Power Conference, is a member of the ASME Power Committee, and International Gas Turbine Institute, Education Subcommittee. He has taught college classes in Energy & the Environment, Ethics in the Energy Industry, Electronics and Power Plant Operations. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University with an emphasis in Power Plant System Design

Clint Medlock is a project manager for Southern Company Services - Research and Development, a subsidiary of Southern Company, the organization leading the company's innovation in advanced nuclear technology efforts. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Technological University. Clint joined Southern Company in 2005 and has over 30 years of nuclear energy experience with various utilities as well as architectural/engineering and consulting firms. At Southern Company, he has held several engineering, design, maintenance and construction oversight positions at the corporate office, Plant Farley and Plant Vogtle 3&4. In his current role, he serves as the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) Program Chief Engineer. Southern Company Services - Research and Development is working closely with TerraPower, an advanced reactor developer, and the DOE via multiple awards to work toward commercialization of this non-light water nuclear energy technology. Clint's engagement and leadership in programs like these are helping ensure Southern Company will continue to have energy options while meeting its long-term net-zero greenhouse gas emissions goal.

Jhansi Kandasamy is an electrical engineer, business professional, past chair of U.S. Women in Nuclear (WIN), and co-founder of U.S. WIN Nuclear Executives of Tomorrow. Kandasamy has taken on numerous energy challenges over the course of her 30 years in nuclear energy and emerged as both a successful leader and sought-after mentor. Prior to her role as director of INL's Net-Zero program, Kandasamy took on the challenge of developing carbon-free energy as the executive vice president of engineering for GE-Hitachi. There, she contributed to the development of a new generation of nuclear reactors called small modular reactors. This work helped her achieve one of her core goals: protecting the planet by developing energy alternatives. Kandasamy was poised to take on this work after holding progressive roles as maintenance supervisor, operations supervisor, engineering manager, regulatory assurance manager and chemistry environmental manager at Exelon's Limerick Generating Station and Oyster Creek Generating Station. She then transitioned to Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) Nuclear Salem/Hope Creek New Jersey where she held positions as regulatory assurance manager, work management director and senior projects director. Kandasamy obtained U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission senior reactor operator certification at the Limerick Generating Station. As a woman in a largely male-dominated space, Kandasamy was motivated to help other women and historically underrepresented groups, which is why she became involved with U.S. WIN in various capacities, including being selected as the recent past chair of the organization. She served on the local American Nuclear Society executive committee and as co-founder of Atomic Allies, which was born from a memorandum of understanding signed by U.S. WIN, the Nuclear Energy Institute, North American Young 20-GA50518 continued on back...Generation in Nuclear and the American Nuclear Society. She is on the oversight committee for and initiated the U.S. WIN Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Working Group, which addresses not only gender gaps, but all diversity in the nuclear workforce. In her free time, Kandasamy is the president and chair for a college her father started in a rural part of India to educate underprivileged men and women from rural villages. Kandasamy is happily married and the proud mother of two children. She is also an avid reader -- a hobby fueled by her natural curiosity and love of learning -- and enjoys painting, travel, pickleball and walking.

Dr. Michael Goff is the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy. Prior to joining the office as the PDAS, Dr. Goff was on assignment from Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to the Office of Nuclear Energy, where he was serving his third term as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary. Dr. Goff also served a multi-year assignment as the Assistant Director for Nuclear Energy/Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President. He has held several management and research positions over more than 30 years at INL and Argonne National Laboratory. Dr. Goff has more than 70 publications related to the nuclear fuel cycle including separations technology, high-level waste development, and safeguards. Dr. Goff has a Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering (1986), a MSNE (1988), and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering (1991), all from Georgia Tech.

Nicholas Smith is the Deputy Director of the National Reactor Innovation Center. In this role, he is responsible for supporting initiatives to provide resources to reactor innovators to test, demonstrate, and conduct performance assessments to accelerate the deployment of advanced nuclear technology concepts. Smith most recently was the Generation IV nuclear reactor R&D program manager at Southern Company Services. In this role, he was responsible for highly leveraged collaboration with reactor designers, national labs, influencing policy makers, and early engagement with regulators. He was also the technical lead on a $40 million DOE Advanced Reactor Concept collaboration to develop TerraPower's Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR), a collaboration with TerraPower, Idaho National Laboratory (INL), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and Vanderbilt University.
As nuclear R&D program manager, he has created and managed work scope definition across multiple organizations to deliver nuclear R&D products such as uranium flow loops, molten salt corrosion tests, plutonium salt thermophysical properties, micro-reactor management systems with remote monitoring, and a 1MW electrically heated integrated effects test of the MCFR. He also led, on behalf of Southern, the proposal development to demonstrate the Westinghouse eVinci nuclear micro-reactor. Additionally, Smith led the Molten Salt Reactor Technology Working Group (MSR TWG) as Chairman where he was responsible for coordinating engagements with national labs, DOE, and NRC to work on regulatory issues, common technical challenges, and consensus standards related to MSRs. Smith holds an Economics Degree from San Diego State University, an Electrical Engineering Degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Master of Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Mr. Schaefer brings to Guggenheim extensive expertise in energy related mergers, acquisitions and financing, developed over his more than 27 years in the financial services industry. Mr. Schaefer has completed approximately $60 billion of strategic advisory assignments and over $30 billion of lead managed financings.
In addition to his role at Guggenheim Securities, Mr. Schaefer is active in a number of industry organizations. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for United States Nuclear Industry Council (USNIC). Recently, he served on a Board with the Department of Energy (DOE) to determine the awardees of $4.0 billion of grants through the DOE's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP).

During the competition, Stanke won the talent portion, performing a piece from "Vivaldi's Summer/Four Seasons - Storm" on her electric violin.
Stanke, a nuclear engineering student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has earned more than $68,000 in scholarship assistance through her state and Miss America competitions. During her year as Miss America, Grace is traveling the country using her national platform to advocate for "Clean Energy - Cleaner Future." Encouraging worldwide change for clean, zero-carbon emission energy sources, Stanke emphasizes the benefits of nuclear power and seeks to dispel the myths around nuclear energy while inspiring the next generation of female scientists, engineers, and mathematicians.

Prior to this role, Anderson was vice president of Technical Services in Southern Company's Technical and Project Solutions (T&PS) organization where he led the team in providing technical support to customers across the Southern Company system. He began his career with Southern Company in 2001 as an engineer at Georgia Power's Plant Branch and has worked across several other generation facilities including Plants McDonough, Scherer, Barry, Wansley, Bowen, Miller, and Crist. His experience includes serving as Operations and Maintenance manager at Alabama Power's Plant Miller and subsequently serving as plant manager at Gulf Power's Plant Crist. In more recent roles, Anderson has been integral in Georgia Power's coal combustion residual (CCR) efforts, including helping the company establish formalized controls for Georgia Power's CCR and ash pond closure program. He has served on multiple community boards, including the Northwest Florida Chapter of Junior Achievement and the Central Gulf Industrial Alliance. Anderson earned a master's in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University as well as a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.

Commissioner Tim Echols was elected to the PSC in 2011. Th focus of the Public Service Commissioner is energy regulation and when Tim took office, Georgia was 34th in solar power. Now, the state is 9th in the nation for installed solar. In 2020, Conservatives for Clean Energy dubbed Echols the "Solar Architect of Georgia."
Commissioner Echols created a Clean Energy Roadshow that has traveled the state every summer for the last eight years. This educational event travels to cities around the state helping commuters, businesses and municipal governments evaluate alternative fuel for their transportation and residential use.
He was also instrumental in keeping Plant Vogtle moving forward. He believes carbon-free nuclear energy plus solar is the way forward for Georgia and has represented the United States at the World Nuclear Exhibition for the last six years.
Tim leads by example by adding solar hot water heating to his home that he shares with longtime spouse Windy and raised 7 children. He also owns a natural gas car, a propane van and now owns an electric car and working to raise funds for the Hog Hammock Foundation a 16-panel solar pavilion in Sapelo, the home of one of the last remaining Gullah Geechee communities and this array will provide free electricity to the library for the next 30 years.

Before SNHU, Kristen was the District Director of Academic Technology at the City Colleges of Chicago, managing the first system-wide LMS and student email system launches.

Eric Fins is the Vice President of Grove Climate Group, LLC. Eric joined the team in February 2023 after nearly 15 years of service in the U.S. House of Representatives in a variety of capacities. Most recently, Eric was the Deputy Staff Director of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis (SCCC) during the 118th Congress. In this capacity, he helped manage a staff of 12 full-time professionals as well as interns. Known as the "climate think tank" for House Democrats, Eric was responsible for coordinating climate policy with House Democratic Leadership including the standing committees, in addition to the White House and Senate. During the 117th Congress, the Select Committee was charged with helping implement the policy proposals included in the Committee's June 2020 Solving the Climate Crisis report. By the end of 2022, over 300 of the report's 715 policy recommendations had been signed into law.
Over the course of his Congressional career, Eric has worked professionally for five members of Congress, spanning the Democratic party both geographically and across the political spectrum. Including his time on SCCC, Eric supported work on the following laws, including but not limited to: the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, in addition to annual appropriations and defense bills, laws to protect the ancestral lands of a Native American tribe, reverse antiquated federal policies that were inhibiting local economic development related to offshore wind, authorize the creation of a national network of advanced manufacturing institutes to support public-private partnerships focused on overcoming next-generation manufacturing challenges, and ensure constituents were given due process in proceedings at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Additionally, Eric worked to solve issues through other means. With SCCC, he co-led the effort to garner 192 bicameral Democratic signers on an amicus brief to the Supreme Court's West Virginia v. EPA case and co-managed the drafting and editing of the SCCC Majority Staff report Solving the Climate Crisis 2022: Key Accomplishments and Additional Opportunities. During his time serving on the Committee, Chair Kathy Castor and the Select Committee were recognized as having among the most diverse witnesses testifying at Congressional hearings in the 118th Congress. In prior roles, Eric fought to develop bipartisan support for access and funding to civil legal aid programs, legal support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and long overdue compensation for victims and families impacted by exposure to harmful material working in federal programs. Eric has participated in several international staff delegation visits to various countries covering wide-ranging topics of mutual interests with the United States.
Eric received his J.D. from American University Magna Cum Laude and served as a staff member on the American University Law Review for two years. He also received his bachelor's degree from American University in Interdisciplinary Studies: Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government with a Minor in Spanish. Mendy Lee is the assistant director of the National Carbon Capture Center, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)-sponsored research facility managed and operated by Southern Company.
Located in Wilsonville, Alabama, the National Carbon Capture Center is an internationally known test facility working to accelerate the development and commercialization of advanced and next-generation technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil-based power plants, and to promote carbon utilization and direct air capture solutions. The center evaluates carbon capture processes from third-party developers and hosts premier research organizations, universities, technology developers and engineering firms from around the world. As assistant director of the center, Lee provides leadership and oversight to implement the project's technical program, including safe operation of the facility, achievement of contractual objectives and environmental regulatory requirements, management of major subcontracts for technical labor and resources, and overall direction of day-to-day site activities.
Lee possesses industrial operations experience at multiple natural gas combined-cycle facilities and coal-based power plants. She previously worked with Southern Company's wholesale energy subsidiary, Southern Power, where she served as the operations and maintenance manager at Plant Franklin, near Columbus, Georgia.
Since beginning her career with the Southern Company system in 2000, Lee supported power generation operations at Alabama Power, Georgia Power, Gulf Power and Savannah Electric, as well as Southern Power. He leads Toshiba's corporate development activities, and its new power generation and heavy ion cancer treatment businesses in North America. Jeff is also chairman of Toshiba's Rogers, Minnesota-based TurbinePROs, LLC and its Canadian subsidiary company, TurbinePROs R. E. Services, Ltd., and is a director of EtaPRO LLC, Toshiba's global asset performance and monitoring business based in Amherst, New York.

He has originated, directed and managed dozens of other capital-intensive projects. Jeff joined Toshiba in March 2014 when he opened and co-managed TAES's offices in Houston. He currently reports to the president and chief executive officer at TAES. In addition to duties at TAES, TurbinePROs and EtaPRO, Jeff was an officer and general manager at Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corp., which merged into TAES in December 2018, and he was CFO at Nuclear Innovation North America LLC, a joint venture created by TANE and NRG Energy that was also merged into TAES.
From 2001 to 2014 Jeff held senior management and executive positions including vice president of corporate development at Dallas-based TXU Corp. which merged with Energy Future Holdings Corp. in 2007 through a $45 billion leveraged buy-out with KKR, TPG, and Goldman Sachs (now Vistra). Jeff began his career in the energy business in 1991 at Commonwealth Edison Company (now Exelon and Constellation) in Chicago. At ComEd he held roles in engineering, construction and power trading. In this capacity, Suleman helped establish new energy divisions within various companies including Tesla, NRG and FirstSolar, and also led the development of several renewable energy startups. Suleman previously worked on the structured credit products desk at Citigroup, as well as within Citigroup's investment banking M&A division and Prudential's alternative investments group. Suleman also served as Senior Advisor to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission under the Obama administration's initiative to safeguard against future financial crises. Prior to his capital markets work, Suleman worked within the microfinance sector with global and regional organizations including the UNDP and the Zimbabwe Association of Microfinance Institutions. Suleman has an academic background in financial engineering and political science and serves as advisor to various energy access and water reclamation initiatives.

Dr. Greg Ledva serves as the Director of Emerging Technologies at Virtual Peaker where he coordinates and leads the research and development efforts for new products, features, and systems. He leverages customer and stakeholder feedback to inform product development decisions, and his research background spans algorithm development, data analytics, data science, and technology commercialization within electric power systems and distributed energy resources (DERs). This background was developed through research during a master's program at ETH Zurich, during his doctoral studies and research at the University of Michigan, and during his postdoctoral appointment at the University of Michigan where he pursued research commercialization and supported a DER field deployment project. Greg ultimately decided to enter industry and joined Virtual Peaker in 2021.

Scott Childers is Vice President, Essential Power division of Stryten Energy. In this role, he is responsible for growing the company's energy solutions and new technology offerings. He champions clean, renewable energy opportunities for Stryten and actively works with utilities and original equipment manufacturers to deploy long-duration, sustainable energy storage solutions.
Mr. Childers spent more than 15 years in the automotive industry, working for General Motors and its subsequent spin-off Delphi Automotive where he served in a variety of capacities between engineering and operations. Mr. Childers led key organic growth initiatives as Director of Operations and Engineering for CTS Corporation, and he also spent seven years as the General Manager for Schaffer Gear. Prior to joining Stryten, he led Hillphoenix's global technical community as Vice President, Technology. In this capacity, Mr. Childers led a team of more than 200 engineers and scientists in developing world class solutions for thermal and electrical energy management for refrigeration, glass door and merchandising systems.
Mr. Childers received his major and minor degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, respectively, from the University of Dayton. He studied under a GM Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as part of their System Design and Management program, receiving a joint master's degree from the Sloan School of Management and the Engineering Systems Division.

He is leading the organization's first climate-based initiative, which is the establishment of the National Capital Hydrogen Center in the region, including the delivery of innovative regional hydrogen projects and leading the region's Mid-Atlantic Hydrogen Hub application for U.S Department of Energy funding.
Rick previously led strategy, growth, and customer experience functions for WGL Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Washington Gas and held various other positions including COO for WGL Energy Services, Inc. Prior to that, he led large, complex projects for Accenture in their state and local government practice and was a country lead for Time Warner International in the former Czechoslovakia. Mr. Bennett is a former Managing Director at FTI Consulting in their Energy and Natural Resources sector. Mr. Bennett is also the former Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Oil and Natural Gas at the U.S. Department of Energy, where he oversaw the Department's research and development in the oil and gas sector, policy analysis, methane quantification and mitigation, and regulated LNG export authorizations for the United States.

Besides his experience in program management, he also has knowledge with broader domestic and international efforts, outreach/training, and overall government processes. He has managed programs ranging from $7M to over $25M. Currently, Will is on assignment to Battelle as Project Manager supporting clean energy efforts. Before coming to Battelle, he was the Clean Energy Portfolio Manager at Savannah River National Laboratory where he was responsible for the development and execution of strategic initiatives covering energy storage and advanced manufacturing.

Mike Smith serves as vice president of business and technology strategy for The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, the state association of 18 independent, member-owned electric utilities in the state.
Mike works with state and national partners to develop understanding of how technology is changing the utility industry. A registered professional engineer in South Carolina, his work includes contributions to the development of the Distributed Energy Resource Program Act (Act 236), adopted by the General Assembly in 2014. The legislation was a compromise across multiple interests and organizations that opened the way for more distributed energy production in South Carolina. He contributed to another inclusive effort to develop the South Carolina State Energy plan. Currently his focus is on the electrification of the transportation sector and the economy along with the challenges of decarbonizing our generation resources.
Mike is the program manager for Help My House, a whole home weatherization program offered through the electric cooperatives. This program was granted a $15.5 million no interest loan from RUS to weatherize both site-built and manufactured homes, repayment which will be made through on bill financing.
Prior to coming to the co-ops' association, Mike worked 11 years at Central Electric Power Cooperative, the generation and transmission cooperative that acts as the power aggregator for South Carolina cooperatives.
He is a graduate of Clemson University with a BSEE and Georgia Institute of Technology MSEE. Mike served 4 years in the US Army as an officer in the Signal Corps.
